Curved bronze stair railing on a floating staircase with LED-lit treads and a marble floor

Our speciality

Custom Bronze & Brass Railings

Few workshops still build railings in bronze and brass. We design, bend and finish every one in our Ontario studio, from sweeping curved staircases to crisp modern balustrades, for clients in Toronto, the GTA, Florida and across Canada and the US.

Why bronze and brass

Warm metals that only get better with time.

A bronze handrail feels solid in the hand, never rusts and gains a soft depth as it is touched every day. Brass brings a brighter, golden note; bronze a deeper, browner one. Both can be polished, brushed or darkened with a patina, so the railing can sit as quietly or as boldly in the room as you wish.

Because the metals are costly and demanding to work, most fabricators avoid them. For us they are the heart of the studio.

Custom bent railings

One continuous line, from the first step to the landing.

Curved staircases are where bronze shines, and where most railings fail. We template the stair on site, then bend the handrail and every rail in our studio to follow the curve without faceted joints or visible splices.

Helical, elliptical and free-form stairs, floating stairs and stairwells several storeys high: the line is drawn and bent for your staircase alone.

Antique bronze patina

A finish with the depth of an old museum handrail.

Our signature finish is a hand-applied antique bronze patina: a warm, layered brown with lighter highlights where hands naturally polish the metal. It is sealed to keep its depth for years.

Satin, brushed and polished finishes are also available, and we can match the finish of your door hardware, lighting or plumbing fixtures.

Materials

Bronze, brass, iron & steel.

We work in six metals and choose the right one for each part of a project, often combining them, like an iron railing under a bronze handrail.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

What is the difference between a bronze and a brass railing?

Both are copper alloys. Brass has a brighter, yellow-gold colour; bronze is browner and deeper in tone. Both are durable, do not rust and can be patinated, brushed or polished. We help you choose the alloy and finish that suit your interior.

Can you build a bronze railing for a curved or spiral staircase?

Yes. Curved, elliptical and helical stairs are our speciality. We template the staircase on site and bend the handrail and rails in our studio so they follow the curve in one continuous line.

How do I care for a bronze or brass railing?

Very little care is needed: dust with a soft cloth and occasionally apply a quality paste wax. A patinated handrail gently brightens where hands touch it most. That living character is part of the charm of bronze. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

Do you work with builders, architects and interior designers?

Yes. Most of our bronze railings are made with builders, architects and designers. We work from your drawings or develop shop drawings with you, take site measurements and schedule installation with the other trades.

How much does a custom bronze railing cost?

Every railing is made to measure, so the price depends on the length, the shape of the stair, the design and the finish. Send us drawings or a few photos and we will prepare a free quote.

Which areas do you serve?

Our studio is in Port Perry, Ontario. We work across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, and take on projects in Florida and elsewhere in Canada and the United States.
